Confirmation
As teens prepare for Confirmation, it will be important for them to come to an enriched understanding of the Church and of the core beliefs that are shared by all members of the Church. Central to these core beliefs is the mystery of the Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – one God in three persons. Each of the Persons is God, whole and entire. The Confirmation process provides the teenager the opportunity to grow in their Catholic identity and Christian charity. This is an opportune time for the candidate to make a commitment to have a deeper relationship with God through prayer and participation in the Eucharistic celebration and to become a true disciple of Christ by sharing their faith that others might come to know Christ.
The Confirmation process usually takes two years beginning in the fall of the candidate’s freshman year and ending in the spring of their sophomore year. However, any high school teen is welcome to attend. In order to receive this sacrament and be fully initiated into the Church, the candidate should already have received the Sacrament of Baptism and First Holy Communion.
